Base2 Genomics is thrilled to have been invited to speak at Amazon Web Services’ re:Invent 2017. We were early adopters of the AWS Batch technology, which is a fantastic framework for deploying scalable, multi-step data processing workflows. Using AWS Batch as the foundation, we have built an innovative human genome and exome analysis framework by employing two new technologies that we have developed. The first is Batchit, an open source command line tool we have developed to simplify job submission and facilitate automated mounting and cleanup of EBS storage. The second is base2mon, which allows us to create complex job dependency graphs, enforce both job and data dependencies, monitor progress and costs, and automatically recover from job failures.
We will present these technologies and others in the CMP323: – AWS Batch: Easy and Efficient Batch Computing on AWS session, which will be held twice: first on Tuesday, November 28th from 7-8 PM and second on Wednesday, November 29th from 12:15-1:15. Our presentation will discuss the technical challenges we solved in developing a platform that can quickly and economically process thousands of human genomes on cloud computing.
